Dinosaur adventure park in Norfolk

ROARR! in Norwich, England, is the largest dinosaur-themed adventure park in the UK and one of the most popular attractions in the Norfolk region. This extensive leisure park, spanning approximately 34 hectares, is located near the town of Lenwade, about 20 kilometers northwest of Norwich, and offers a unique blend of prehistoric adventure, family-friendly activities, and nature experiences. Originally established in 1992 as Norfolk Dinosaur Park, it has been continuously expanded under the management of the Goymour family, who took over in 2006, and rebranded as ROARR! in 2017 to emphasize its growing diversity and focus on an immersive experience. Today, the park attracts over 300,000 visitors annually and is primarily targeted towards families with children aged 0 to 12, although older children and adults will also find plenty to enjoy.

Family-friendly activities in Norwich

The centerpiece of ROARR! is the "Valley of the Dinosaurs," a sprawling area where life-sized dinosaur models, including Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, and Velociraptors, populate the landscape. Many of these models are animatronic and equipped with sounds, creating an authentic and exciting atmosphere. Visitors can walk along a path, take selfies with the dinosaurs, and uncover dinosaur fossils at interactive stations like the "X-Tinction" excavation site. This zone is particularly popular with children, who can feel like little paleontologists as they journey through a world that existed millions of years ago.

Indoor play area for kids

In addition to the dinosaurs, the park offers a variety of rides and activities. Highlights include "Predator High Ropes," a high ropes course that requires courage and skill and provides a challenge for both children and adults. "Dippy's Raceway" is a fast-paced go-kart track that brings out a competitive spirit, while "Raptor Contraptor" and "Swing-O-Saurus" are thrill rides that provide excitement. For younger children, there are gentler attractions such as "Jurassic Putt," a dinosaur-themed mini-golf course, and the "Dino Bounce," a prehistoric-themed bouncy castle. A special experience is the "Deer Safari," where visitors can ride a small train through a woodland area and observe deer in their natural habitat - one of the few activities that requires an additional fee.

Dinosaur attractions for families

The park is designed to be weatherproof, thanks to the "Dinomite Indoor Adventure Play," one of the largest indoor play areas in East England. This multi-level structure includes slides, climbing frames, and interactive play zones that provide hours of fun even on rainy days. In the summer, "Dippy's Splash Zone," a water park with fountains, slides, and water guns, offers a refreshing cool-down on hot days. The "Secret Animal Garden" zone complements the offerings with a variety of small animals such as snakes, lizards, and insects, while "Animal Encounters" provide daily interactions with animals and informative talks. "Dippy's Theatre" is another attraction, where live shows featuring the mascot Dippy, a friendly Diplodocus, and his friends entertain visitors.

Nature experiences in amusement park

ROARR! focuses on providing a comprehensive family adventure. In addition to the attractions, there are numerous picnic areas where visitors can bring their own food, as well as lockers for luggage. An on-site café serves a selection of food, including vegan options like donuts, while a shop offers souvenirs and dinosaur-themed items. The park is largely wheelchair accessible, with paved paths and ramps facilitating access to the main areas, although some uneven nature trails may be challenging for strollers or wheelchairs. Seasonal events such as "Halloween Days" for children and "PrimEvil," a spooky experience for adults, as well as "Dippy's Christmas Celebration" with ice skating and Christmas activities, ensure that the park remains attractive year-round.

The development of ROARR! reflects the ambition to be a regional highlight. Under the leadership of park manager Adam Goymour, the focus has shifted from just being a dinosaur park to offering a broader adventure experience, with investments in new attractions and a more modern brand identity. Visitors appreciate the variety, cleanliness, and friendly staff, although on busy days, there may be wait times at popular rides. Some criticize that the park may be less exciting for older teenagers, but for the main target audience - young families - it is a hit.

We visited today with our toddler. She loved every minute. We walked around collecting the stamps. But we lost the stamps before making it to the end. No prize this time! Would recommend

I have had an annual pass for here for four years and I can’t sing this places praises enough!!!! They are constantly finding ways to improve and expand the site. There are always fun things to do whatever the time of year and whatever the weather. The staff are always polite and so helpful and friendly. I’ve always felt they go above and beyond! Thank you Roarr for making my children’s childhood awesome xxx

We really enjoyed our day here. Our 5yr old was very excited by all the dinosaurs. Plenty to see and do for the kids. Lots of out door play areas. There's also a indoor play area which was very busy.

Excellent fun for dinosaur lovers, lots of outdoor and indoor things to do, all amenities were lovely and clean and all the staff were friendly, we stayed 4 hours but could easily have been longer if the children hadn't worn themselves out! Fun stamps to collect as you go round for a medal and we got a free hot drink and toy for the children, not sure if that's ongoing or just because it was a pink day

We have been regular visitors for years now and love going to the park. Today was really cold, but it wasn’t a problem as there is a brilliant large indoor play area to warm up in. Had a lovely day today, the staff member manning the slide was really helpful in particular, as I had my hands full. Staff are always friendly, the park is clean and there is lots to do. They have invested in lots of new things recently, which really enhances the experience. Looking forward to many more happy days at Roarr 🦖

Not very welcoming. The Old lady on the front door looked bored and wasn't very inviting. It was our daughter's 3rd birthday and our 1st time visiting, 4 of us and nanny. It is such a shame this particular place hasn't got any idea of customer relations and service. Then they moan about low foot fall. I advise that they do not take things for granted and be thankful to the people who keep you in work. If you don't like serving people then don't, get a different job. Thanks for spoiling our day. Not a good start at all. Our visit was out of seasonin the future we wont bother, half closed down and grumpy staff. If I was the owner with massive over heads I would be upset and disappointed if they were my front of house. In season we have enjoyed the place. The halloween nights have been great fun.

Amazing place! We absolutely love it! Lots of things to do, one day is not enough to see them all. Luckily we have a membership and go there quite often. Worth all the money!

Dino park is great! I take my niece and nephews regularly and they always have a great time. There’s loads of different things to do but what makes it so amazing is the staff, they are all so friendly and engage with the kids. Special mention for Connor who the kids look forward to seeing, he always remembers them and they have such a fun time in soft play with him!! Also miss Paula who no longer works there but used to come up and say hello to the kids every time we came.

I just wanted to write a review to say what an amazing day we had when we visited for the first time last week! The place was amazing and my 2 year old loved every second of it! He is into dinosaurs at the moment and even at 2 could tell us which dinosaur we was looking at and making the "ROARR" sounds to go with it! We will definitely be back once the weather gets better!

Really disappointed, we were told at the gate that we weren't allowed in due to having no children with us. We understand this park is aimed at children but it had become a family tradition to spend birthdays here (even our adult birthdays) for the sheer nostalgia of the place as well as genuinely enjoying a day out here. The staff were lovely about the situation but it wasn't clearly marked anywhere! Not clear on the website or at the actual park which we drove half an hour to and queued for 10 minutes only to be told we couldn't enter. It's a shame to think of all the customers they'll be turning away. Especially after reading the recent reviews of people who had the same problem as myself and my family. Fun for all ages is clearly false advertising. I'm genuinely sad that ill not be able to ever visit this place again.
